For Consumers - Examiners of Landscape Architects

Professional Landscape Architecture is regulated in Maryland under the provisions of Business Occupations and Professions Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, Title 9, and the Code of Maryland Regulations, Title 9, Subtitle 28.

In accordance with Maryland Law, a person may not represent to the public, by use of a title, “landscape architect,” “licensed landscape architect”, “registered landscape architect” or by description of services, methods, or procedures that the person is authorized to practice landscape architecture in the State.

Before hiring or entering a contract with a design professional, the Board of Landscape Architects strongly recommends verifying that the individual(s) or firm is currently licensed and in good standing. Furthermore, a person may not operate a business through which landscape architecture is practiced unless the entity holds a permit issued by the Board.
