December 2025 Standardbred Rulings - Maryland Racing Commission

RCR 25-029         December 1, 2025
Driver William Carter is fined $100.00 for excessive use of the whip down the backstretch while driving PIERRE HANOVER in the 9th race on November 24th, 2025 at Rosecroft Raceway. All fines are due within 10 days of the ruling or the Maryland Racing Commission licensee will be suspended until payment is received. COMAR: 09.10.03.33.A(9)(a)

RCR 25-025 Subsequent Ruling                 December 11, 2025
The Maryland Racing Commission has received notice that appellant, Basil Sapienza, has withdrawn his appeal of Rosecroft Raceway judges' ruling RCR25-025 on December 8th,2025. As a result, Mr. Sapienza is fined $1,000.00 and shall return all purse monies. Mr. Sapienza shall also be issued a 30-day full suspension from January 19th, 2026 through February 17th, 2026. During this suspension, he and all horses trained and/or owned by him are barred from the grounds under the jurisdiction of the Maryland Racing Commission.  Additionally, BLUFFS CRUSH is disqualified, finishing fourth and shall be placed seventh.   BLUFFS CRUSH shall also be placed on the stewards’ list from January 19th, 2026 through February 17th, 2026. All purse monies must be returned within 72 hours of this issuance, and all fines are due within 10 days of the ruling. COMAR: 09.10.02 Addendum A-11. RCR 25-030         December 15, 2025
Driver Deshawn Sample is fined $100.00 for excessive use of the whip after the ¾ pole and in the stretch while driving A ROOMA ZOOM ZOOM in the 6th race on December 11th, 2025 at Rosecroft Raceway. All fines are due within 10 days of the ruling or the Maryland Racing Commission licensee will be suspended until payment is received. COMAR: 09.10.03.33.A(9)(a)
