March 2026 Standardbred Rulings - Maryland Racing Commission

RCR 26-010 March 18, 2026
Trainer Scott Warnick was the trainer of record on horse ROYAL BEEP BEEP in the 2nd race on February 19th, 2026 at Rosecroft Raceway. Post-race analysis of urine sample #E680263 taken from ROYAL BEEP BEEP identified the presence of 3-carboxydetomidine (active metabolite of detomidine) at a concentration of 4.43 ng/mL ± 0.25 ng/mL. The regulatory threshold for this controlled therapeutic medication is 2 ng/mL. As a result, Mr. Warnick shall be fined $1,500.00 and must return all purse monies. Additionally, ROYAL BEEP BEEP is disqualified, finishing 1st and placed 8th; and there shall be a purse redistribution. All purse monies must be returned within 72 hours of this issuance, and all fines are due within ten (10) days of the ruling. COMAR: 09.10.03.04.B. Driver Brian Burton is fined $100.00 for one-handed whipping after the ¾ pole while driving ALWAYS ON TOP in the 3rd race at Rosecroft Raceway. All fines are due within ten (10) days of the ruling; failure to pay will result in the suspension of the Maryland Racing Commission licensee until payment is received. COMAR: 09.10.02.33H(17)

Driver William Carter is fined $100.00 for using exaggerated whipping motions after the ½ pole while driving RUN AROUND JOHN in the 7th race on March 18th, 2026 at Rosecroft Raceway. The violation includes failure to restrict whipping movements to wrist action with minimal elbow movement, and raising the whipping arm above shoulder height. All fines are due within ten (10) days of the ruling; failure to pay will result in suspension of the Maryland Racing Commission license until payment is received. COMAR: 09.10.02.33H(17)(b)

Driver Eric Davis is fined $100.00 for using exaggerated whipping motions after the 3/4 pole and in the stretch while driving ROLL THE MUSIC in the 12th race on March 19th, 2026, at Rosecroft Raceway. The violation includes failure to restrict whipping movements to wrist action with minimal elbow movement, and raising the whipping arm above shoulder height. All fines must be paid within ten (10) days of the ruling; failure to pay will result in the suspension of the Maryland Racing Commission licensee until payment is received. Driver Roger Plante Jr. is fined $100.00 for one-handed whipping after the ¾ pole while driving DICE DICE BABY in the 13th race on March 19th, 2026, at Rosecroft Raceway. Trainer William Andrews was the trainer of record on horse NEVADA VACATION in the 12th race on March 9th, 2026, at Rosecroft Raceway. Post-race analysis of blood sample #E680346 taken from NEVADA VACATION identified the presence of dexamethasone at a concentration of 18.9 pg/mL ± 0.80 pg/mL. The regulatory threshold for this controlled therapeutic medication is 5 pg/mL. As a result, Mr. Andrews shall be fined $500.00 and must return all purse monies. Additionally, NEVADA VACATION is disqualified, finishing 1st and placed 9th; and there shall be a purse redistribution. All purse monies must be returned within 72 hours of this issuance, and all fines must be paid within ten (10) days of the ruling.
