Dynamic Auto - Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Program (MATP) Success Story

Nate FinkNathaniel “Nate” Fink, 21, graduated from high school in 2016 and took classes at Frederick Community College, but soon floundered; he did not have a true connection to his studies. He dropped out and was soon hired to work in the Quick Lube department at Dynamic Automotive. Soon, CEO and president Dwayne Myers encouraged him to join the company’s Registered Apprenticeship program, for the occupation of Auto Maintenance Technician.

Dynamic Auto“Here it was all laid out for me – here’s the courses, here’s how to apply it to your real-world expertise,” said Fink, who lives in Frederick. What he’s learning from textbooks is directly relevant to the professional exams he’ll take for ASE certification, he said, adding, “the time in the classroom is invaluable.”

Dynamic Automotive was the first company in the state with both a youth and a registered apprentice program, said Myers, an Apprenticeship Ambassador for the state. Dynamic initially began participating in the youth apprenticeship program offered by Frederick County Public Schools, and then later created its own Registered Apprenticeship program.
